Open Hearts for Open Door Food Pantry

Jeanne Yaecker, director of the Freehold Open Door Food Pantry, recently accepted a check for $7,310 from St. Rose of Lima Parish, Freehold, on behalf of pantry. St. Rose of Lima Church Finance Committee Chairman Alec Taylor presented the proceeds to Yaecker, which were raised for Open Door during a collection that took place the weekend of June 6-7.

"We [Open Door] have seen a 30-35 percent increase in our client base who use our services," explained Yaecker. "We are seeing many new faces and other people who stopped using our services are returning because their economic circumstances have changed."

St. Rose of Lima Church conducts a number of financial collections throughout the year in support of Open Door. In addition, St. Rose of Lima School conducts canned goods food drives during its academic year with the support of the school's student government and student body.
