• Monmouth Worship Center, 176 Route 79, Marlboro, is accepting registration for Vacation Bible School to be held Aug. 17-21 from 9 a.m. to noon. During this year's program. titled "Crocodile Dock," children entering preschool through grade 6 will "travel" to the Bayou and experience "swamp living" through Bible lessons, games, crafts and snacks. • The eighth annual Walk with Joe will be held at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Manalapan, on Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. The 5K walk through the park pays tribute to the passengers and crew of United Airlines flight 93 and their actions on Sept. 11, 2001. • The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County will show the film "Snow in August" on Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. The film, based on a novel by Pete Hamill, is about a young Irish boy who discovers the true meaning of courage. The museum is at 310 Mount's Corner Drive, in the Mount's Corner shopping Center, at Route 537 and Wemrock Road, Freehold Township. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children (suitable for children 10 and up).

• Monmouth Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America will hold summer "stitch-ins" at the Colts Neck library, 1 Winthrop Drive, Colts Neck. • Freehold Township's third annual National Night Out for residents, a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by Freehold Raceway Mall, will be held from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Freehold Township municipal parking lot, corner of Schanck and Stillwells Corner roads, Freehold Township. The event will feature music, free ice cream, free rides for children, a balloon artist, face painting, free horse and pony rides, fire department safety demonstrations, police certified safety seat check, CentraState Medical Center's Wellness Screening Van, McGruff and more. All proceeds will go to the Special Olympics. In addition, a blood drive will be held that day from 4:30-9:30 p.m. in the same parking lot, next to the firehouse. • The Freehold Borough Police Department is sponsoring National Night Out, an evening of fun and education for the whole family, from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Monmouth County Hall of Records parking lot on Main Street in Downtown Freehold. There will be inflatable rides, pony rides and face painting, as well as fire trucks, an ambulance and a police car to examine.
