'The Odyssey' to be performed at Manalapan library on July 8

"The Odyssey" by Homer will be performed by the Next Stage Ensemble of the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan, at 7 p.m. July 8. Director Jason King Jones has developed this fastpaced, creative retelling of key scenes from Homer's epic poem, one of the earliest masterpieces of Western literature. "The Odyssey" is the first part of a two-part theatrical series which will feature "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare on Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. The performances are free of charge.
