Schechter students honor presidents Students from Solomon Schechter Academy, Howell, recently held a program about all the presidents of the United States. Third- through sixth-grade members of the Village Students shared an accomplishment of each of the 44 presidents with the audience, under the direction of Bobbi Greenfield, language arts teacher. Social studies teacher, Estelle Cohen, quizzed the audience with presidential trivia questions during a presentation by the fifthand sixth-grade students about several wellknown presidents. Under the guidance of Susan Ebert, firstgrade students recited poems. Toni Spitz's second-graders dressed in the attire of famous presidents and their first ladies while sharing stories about the presidents they represented. Preschoolers sang songs led by Ellie Yong Yow and the audience joined in singing and clapping to many of the familiar patriotic melodies that played throughout the entire program. Musical performance of patriotic songs from different periods of history were also presented by students in the Village Chorus under the direction of Marilyn Cohen and accompanied by Paul Krauss. |
