      Unachukwu sets four meet records
      Marlboro senior stars; Freehold Township wins FRHSD crown
            Marlboro High School senior Ada Unachukwu bid farewell to the Freehold Regional High School District Track and Field Championships as only she could. In her final appearance at the FRHSD meet on April 30, Unachukwu won four events for the third straight year. All of her victories were record performances.

      Carrick claims county golf title for Howell
            Corey Carrick knew better than to think that he was out of contention. The Howell High School junior was three over par through the first five holes at the 2009 Monmouth County Tournament being played on the par 72 Hominy Hill Golf Course in Colts Neck.

      Bresnahan sparks St. Rose
            Chris Bresnahan wanted to have fun during his senior year of high school and that's why he made his college decision before the 2009 high school baseball season began. Bresnahan did so by signing a national letter of intent with Elon University of North Carolina.

      Baseball, softball teams strive for state bids
            Last week was moving week for the Freehold Township High School baseball team. With the May 8 deadline looming for New Jersey's high school baseball and softball teams to be .500 or better in order to qualify for the state tournament, the Patriots went 3-0 to raise their record to 10-5 overall and clinch a spot in the NJSIAA tournament.

      BCC baseball team is region's top seed
            The Brookdale Community College baseball team will host this weekend's Region XIX Tournament as the No. 1 seed. Coach Johnny Johnson's Jersey Blues wrapped up the No. 1 seed for the Region XIX event by winning the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) and posting the best region record (14-2) en route to a 34-8 overall record.

            The Battle of Monmouth Bulldogs U-10 girls soccer team will hold tryouts for the fall season on May 12 in the Robbinsville bubble in Mercer County. Registration will begin at 5 p.m., or prospective players can preregister by emailing bombulldogs@aol.com. Tryouts will start at 5:15 p.m. and run to 6:45 p.m.
