'The Miracle Worker' on stage in Colts Neck Join the Colts Neck Cougar Catwalkers at Colts Neck High School Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 2 and 8 p.m. as they perform William Gibson's "The Miracle Worker," a story based on the inspiring life of Helen Keller (played by Arielle Strauss), a girl reduced to being deaf and blind due to illness as an infant. Directed by Allyson Glasser, the play demonstrates the importance of love, perception, and sheer determination as Annie Sullivan (Grace Paras) bursts into the lives of the Keller family. Spunky, motivated, and once blind herself, Sullivan takes the Keller family by surprise as she takes liberty to treat Helen as a person rather than just a being; in taking that first leap, both Helen and Sullivan embark on an invaluable journey of resistance, learning, and communication. In doing so, Sullivan tries the temper of Captain Keller (Tyler Berman), serves as amusement for the Captain's son James (William Patterson), and challenges Helen's mother, Kate, (Raquel Guarino) to find her own inner strength to support Helen's new beginnings. The show will take place at the Colts Neck High School auditorium, 59 Five Points Road, Colts Neck. Tickets: $9, $6 for seniors and children under 12. |
