AAUW presents scholarships
Members of the Freehold Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) recently met two scholarship winners for the academic year, women who have gone back to school to pursue their education.

Janet Blum (l) and Jacqueline LoGuidice have been named the winners of scholarships that are presented by the Freehold Area Branch of the American Association of University Women to women who have gone back to school to pursue their education.
Jacqueline LoGuidice, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, hopes to receive her bachelor's degree soon from Rutgers University-Camden. She is working in the education field and would like to eventually obtain a master's degree in special and literacy education. She wants to motivate students so they can appreciate and understand the value of a good education.

Janet Blum of Manalapan is studying for her master of arts in health studies through the University of Alabama with the goal of adding a certified health education specialist title, through the national exam, to her registered dietitian credentials.

As a health promotion resource person, she hopes for responsibility to assess health education and promotion in the prevention area. She wants to help individuals, groups and communities, especially regarding women's health, to achieve a higher quality of life by practicing healthy lifestyles.

The two scholarships of $2,000 each are named for branch members who have been very active over the years, Lew Williams and Leila Sulkes, both former presidents. They also played a major part in the annual sale of used books, the source of funds for these scholarships and other community and national programs, according to a press release.

Membership in the Freehold Area Branch of AAUW is open to residents with no geographical limits. For information on activities and membership, call Marcia Saltzman at 732-928-2478.
