FRHSD board members have failed the public
For the past few weeks, the public, media, and politicians have been discussing the fraud being perpetrated by the Freehold Regional High School District superintendent of schools, as well as others on his staff.

What we would like to ask is why the Board of Education has failed to act in response to this fraud, but have supported and protected them?

A flag should have gone up when the board paid less then $10,000 for three Ph.D.s. All of us who have aspired to advanced degrees are well aware that a Ph.D. requires extensive research.

Ph.D.s can cost upward of $40,000 from an accredited university as witnessed by an assistant principal employed by the FRHSD, who was recently reimbursed at a rate of almost $50,000.

In addition, some of us who have earned advance degrees online from an accredited institution know that at least two years of classroom and casework is required.

Even if we assume that the board accepted James Wasser's credentials, as well as the others on his staff, upon being informed that the diplomas were from a diploma mill, they should have at least suspended him until an investigation was completed by the Attorney General's Office or by numerous governmental agencies, or fire all of them for committing fraud.

As citizens of this great county who work hard to ensure that our children are properly educated in order to compete in our global economy, it behooves our elected officials, in this case the FRHSD school board, to ensure that they support us.

In this case, not only have they failed to respond to our voices, they have sent a message to our children that it is acceptable to commit questionable acts for personal gain.

To add insult to injury, our taxes are being used to fatten the administrators' pockets while reducing available resources needed in the classroom.

We need to make sure that when the present board members' terms expire, they will be replaced.
