Attorney to seek use variance FREEHOLD — An application requesting a variance to place a law office at 68 Court St. is scheduled to be heard by the Freehold Borough Planning/Zoning Board on Aug. 27. The applicant, attorney Veronica Davis, is seeking a use variance in order to be permitted to convert the home and an accessory building at the rear of the property into law offices and other office space. The lot has 52 feet of frontage on Court Street and is 299 feet deep. The property is in a residential zone and the applicant needs a use variance in order to create a office commercial space that is not a permitted use in a residential zone. According to engineer Michael Geller, of Geller, Sive and Company, there will be a modest amount of site improvements which will include a driveway that does not exist now. The plan also proposes parking at the rear of the building and the conversion of the existing two-car garage/carriage house into offices. The plan also calls for the enhancement of the wraparound front porch and the addition of a handicap access ramp which will lead to the front door. Landscaping and a modest amount of Colonialstyle lighting is also proposed. Geller said the plan will keep the architectural integrity of the building intact. A small sign is proposed to be placed on the site of the offices for identification. Residents may review the application at Borough Hall. |
