A High Tea Party hosted by the Freehold Borough Recreational Department and United Families of African Decent will be held at the Court Street School, 140 Court St., Freehold, 3-6 p.m. June 21. The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County welcomes all children ages 5-13 to participate in a mezuzah designing contest from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22 at Around the Corner Art Center, Mount's Corner shopping center, Route 537 and Wemrock Road, Freehold Township. Entry fee of $10 includes materials and pizza provided by Levy's Pizza. The finished mezuzah cases will be on display at the museum from June 24 throughAug. 22. A used book sale will be conducted by the Freehold Area Branch of the American Association of University Women from 5-9 p.m. June 25, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 26-27, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 28 at the Freehold Reformed Church, 67 W. Main St., Freehold. More than 20,000 books will be for sale. Proceeds will support women in their educational pursuits as well as the Open Door after-school program for children in Freehold. The Italian American Association (IAA) of Monmouth County will host its second annual Italian American Festival, June 26-29 at Freehold Raceway Route 9 north, Freehold. Admission and parking are free. The festival will feature rides, games, auction prizes, face painting, crafters, Italian novelties, car show, entertainment, bocce tournament, strolling Italian minstrels, fireworks and Italian food. ATeen Battle of the Bands in which five local teen bands will compete for prizes will be featured at the Marlboro library, Wyncrest Road, Marlboro, at 1 p.m. June 28. Teens are invited to celebrate the school year coming to a close and the beginning of a summer of reading. There is no charge to attend. • Thompson Grove Park's grand opening will be held from 3-7 p.m. June 29 on Thompson Grove Road, Manalapan. The park features walking trails, picnic areas and an 8-acre open field. There will be live music, face painting, balloon animals, food and family activities. The park opening will also mark the start of the Summer Concert Series sponsored by the Manalapan Arts Council. Tropical Rhythms, a New York-based Caribbean band, and Tropical Expressions, a cover band based in Manalapan that plays familiar songs with an island sound, will perform. Details: 732-446-3200.
