School to honor those who help Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Monmouth County, Marlboro, recently announced the recipients of special awards to be honored at the 2007-08 Scholarship JournalDinnerDance, in recognition of dedicated service, June 12, at the Grand Marquis, Old Bridge. Paul and Lynne Fried of Manalapan, who have been named as the 2007-08 honorees, have been members of the Solomon Schechter family for more than 11 years, starting with the enrollment of their son in the school in 1996, followed by his sister in 1998. Paul has served on the school's Board of Trustees, chaired the annual golf classic, and founded the adult basketball team. Lynne, currently PTO vice president of membership, has also served as vice president of fundraising, and chair of the Purim carnival. The Township of Marlboro will receive the Solomon Schechter Day School Special RecognitionAward. This recognition is being awarded in appreciation of the township's support of Solomon Schechter Day School of GreaterMonmouth County and to celebrate jointly the upcoming 160th anniversary of the township and the 30th anniversary of the school. According to a press release, Solomon Schechter Day School has partnered with Marlboro in many ways over the past 30 years. In conjunction with the annual Scholarship Journal Dinner Dance, Solomon Schechter Day School publishes a scholarship ad journal, the school'smajor fundraising project of the year. The funds raised through the journal are used to provide scholarships for childrenwhomight not otherwise be able to attend the school. |
