Event to be held in good taste
BY CLARE MARIE CELANO Staff Writer

FREEHOLD- The Freehold Borough Educational Foundation will host the second in a series of community fundraisers that highlight the town's best assets.

The event to be held from 7-9 p.m. June 2 will feature tempting dishes from eateries along Main Street's "Restaurant Row." Freehold's Finest Chefs: Wrap It Up! will take place at Della Solla, 32 W. Main St.

According to foundation Chairwoman Jean Holtz, the June 2 get-together will be a great event.

"The foundation always strives for excellence in our public schools. We have huge resources in our town, including its individuals and businesses, and this event is a good way to illustrate our philosophy of excellence in our town," Holtz said.

She said Freehold's restaurant owners have been cooperative and willing to help the foundation make this event happen.

In addition to Della Solla, restaurants that will participate in Freehold's Finest Chefs: Wrap It Up! are the Cornerstone Caffé, the Court Jester, El Meson, Federici's, Metropolitan Café, Oyako Tso and South Street Steakhouse.

"Each restaurant will prepare two small plates based on the culinary theme of 'wrap it up,' " Holtz said. "The 'wrap it up' offerings will reflect food that is in some way 'packaged' or 'enclosed,' and highlights each restaurant's unique cuisine. Some of the signature dishes will include savory ravioli, Asian dumplings, spicy burritos, gourmet hot dogs, exotic sushi, unique American wraps, stuffed shells and other chef 's amusements."

Tickets for the tasting event are $50 per person, which also includes wine and dessert. Holtz said the wine is being provided by the Hudson-Chatham Winery in Hudson Valley, New York. The winery is owned by Broad Street residents Carlo and Dominique DeVito.
