Explore 1830 Village Life at Allaire State Park

Guests are invited to take a step back in time and discover what it was like to live in the 1830s when "Village Life at the Howell Works" is presentedMay 18 from1 to 4 p.m. at theHistoric Village atAllaire State Park. Admission is free.

Owned and developed by James P. Allaire during the 1830s, the Howell Works was an iron-producing industrial town with many houses and businesses thriving during the onset of the industrial revolution. Historically dressed volunteer museum interpreters will introduce visitors to trades such as blacksmithing, pattern making and tinsmithing. Children can try their hands at 19th-century tools at the carpenter shop. Guests can also take part in a quilting project, watch villagers do laundry and cook on open hearths, participate in children's games, and take part in a muster of the HowellWorks VolunteerMilitia.
