Boy Scouts will honor Freehold Twp. official

The Monmouth Council, Boy Scouts of America, will hold its 2008 Western Monmouth "Good Scout Award" reception at 5:30 p.m. May 29 at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan.

Anthony J. Ammiano, a member of the Township Committee in Freehold Township, will be recognized for his record of community service, participating citizenship and volunteer work.

The "Good ScoutAward" was developed and first presented in 2000. The award recognizes community and business leaders for their role in supporting community and civic activities and their dedication to improving the quality of life for its citizens.

Recipients also serve as role models for Scouts and leaders alike.

Edwina Howell, district commissioner for the council's Battleground District, serving western Monmouth County, will be recognized with a Lifetime AchievementAward for her commitment to Scouting.

All proceeds from the reception will help to support more than 7,000 youths within the Monmouth County scouting program. For more information about the May 29 event, call (732) 526-2347 or visit www.monmouthbsa.org.
