Benefit golf outings scheduled
The 2008 Commerce Bank Band Aid Open golf outing will swing into action at the Forsgate Country Club, Monroe Township, on June 10 with a choice of shotgun starts at 7:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

The organizing committee, chaired by Dr. Kenneth Tomkovich, Manalapan, has designated the proceeds from this year's event to the expansion and renovation of the pediatric unit at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.

The tournament sponsor for the event is Commerce Bank and the flight sponsor is Bank of America.

This year's BandAid Open will feature a new fundraising event called the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop, by Helicopter Flight Services. Participants may purchase golf balls for $20 each. The closest three golf balls to the hole will win cash prizes. The day will also include a continental breakfast, lunch, 18 holes of golf and an awards dinner.

Early reservations are encouraged. There is a limit of 92 golfers per course (on a first come basis). The golfer contribution is $400.

The 2008 Qualcare Ladies Links For Better Health golf outing is scheduled for July 1 at 8 a.m., also at the Forsgate Country Club.

The day will begin with a continental breakfast and conclude with lunch and the Mind, Body and Spirit Fair, a new event this year. The fair is a time for women to network, preview the latest golf apparel and equipment, learn about health issues facing today's women, discuss current topics with financial advisers, and more. The golfer contribution is $200.

The tournament sponsor for the event is Qualcare Inc. The co-chairs of the event are Alice Guttler and Karen Loupassakis.

Proceeds from the July 1 event will go to promoting children's heart health, an education program at CentraState's Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center that focuses on prevention of at-risk behaviors such as smoking, obesity, sedentary lifestyle and drugs.
