Freehold Intermediate School will mark 50 years

FREEHOLD - This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Freehold Intermediate School, Park Avenue. To commemorate this milestone ,the administration and Board of Education in the Freehold Borough School District are planning to host a special event on June 13 from 7-10 p.m. The event, "50 Years of Borough Pride," will be held at the Freehold Intermediate School.

According to a press release from the school district, the celebration committee needs help from the community.

To illustrate the many progressive changes the school district has undergone in the past 50 years, the committee is looking for memorabilia; photos, yearbooks, report cards, school work/projects, athletic clothing, etc. to be displayed during the celebration events.

All items will be returned to the owner after the celebration. Call the board offices at (732) 761-2158 or send an e-mail to reunion@ freeholdboro.k12.nj.us.

The committee will be contacting as many of the graduates as possible for their participation in the celebration, according to the press release.

All residents of Freehold Borough are invited to attend the June 13 event and to learn about the 50-year history of the school.

A ceremony honoring outstanding individuals from the community will take place and there will be activities for children and adults. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Check the district's Web site, www.freeholdboro.k12.nj.us, for additional updated information about activities.

"This event is simply a celebration of community that has been offering an excellent education in the middle school for 50 years. We are very proud of our 'age' and are honored to continue to educate the children of Freehold Borough," Superintendent of Schools Elizabeth O'Connell said. "This community has much to celebrate and I hope that residents and past graduates join us in this historic event."
