Marlboro temple delivers Passover meals on wheels MARLBORO - Passover 2008 marked the eighth year that the Marlboro Jewish Center has delivered Passover kosher meals on wheels to individuals and families who cannot get out to purchase their own holiday food. According to a press release, 100 boxes of food were purchased, packed and delivered to residents throughout Monmouth County so that they could have the opportunity to celebrate Passover with traditional foods such as potato kugel, matzoh ball soup, gefilte fish, matzoh and macaroons. "This program is so important for our community," said Cindy Salant, who chairs the Social Action Committee (SAC), "and I am so fortunate to be a part of the SAC and work on a project like this." The program was supported by the Marlboro Jewish Center families and the temple's rabbi. Co-chairs of this event Seth Crystall and Nan Targovnik arranged for the food, the volunteers and the drivers. The Marlboro Jewish Center Preschool pupils created Passover cards for each meal, while other volunteers put together the boxes on April 13. Those volunteers were Seth Crystall, Andrea Miller, Shelby Miller, Cindy Salant and Hanna Salant. On April 14, Marlboro Jewish Center families came out to help distribute and pack meals into individual boxes. These volunteers were:Mia Reingold, Liz Reingold, Regina Michaels, Andrea Wendler, ZacharyWendler, Debbie Goldhecht, Joyce Weiner, Hilanie Weiner, Sam Rubinstein, Suzanne Rubinstein, Bradley Langer, Robin Windman, Gregory Marx, Seth Marx, Robin Marx, Samantha Todres, George Todres, Ben Todres. And, Jonathan Staloff, Debbie Staloff, Howard Shafran and family, Andrew Godlewicz, Barbara Godlewicz, Isabel Jacob, Paul Jacob, Allie Belfer, Andrea Minken, Joni Stern, Alyssa Stern, Harris Stern, Sari Kuba, Debi Kuba, Myriam Kuba, Michele Herling, Rachel Greenberg, Jessica Greenberg, Lisa Greenberg, Eliot Greenberg, Ian Engel, Adrienne Engel, Seth Drashinsky, Daniel Drashinsky, Nina Drashinsky, Seth Crystall, Leigh Crystall, Cindy Salant and Hanna Salant. On April 17, drivers delivered the meals. Drivers were Sherry and Russell Cammeyer, Suzanne and Sam Rubinstein, Lisa, Jessica and Rachel Greenberg, Beth Josephs, Ellen Levy, Sig Amster, Jody Shassol, Ruth and Jack Appel, Murray Shabat, Shari Paul, Liz Reingold, Cindy and Hanna Salant, Harry Greenberg, Stephanie Ackerman, Seth, Leigh and Mariel Crystall, Morty Schwartz and Steve Hecht. "Of course I can't thank the Acme supermarket in Milltown enough for once again arranging for the hot and cold food for our kosher meals on wheels program," Salant said. "Working with them is so effortless." According to the press release, Congregation Ohev Shalom (Marlboro Jewish Center) is the largest Conservative, egalitarian synagogue in Monmouth County, with a membership of nearly 800 families. |
