The Freehold Area Running Club is hosting the Jack Kuhnert Memorial Scholarship 5K Run on May 11 at Michael Tighe Park, Georgia Road, Freehold Township. The race will go off at 10 a.m.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Jack Kuhnert Scholarship Fund and is distributed to needy students in Freehold Borough and Freehold Township High School. The scholarship in honor of the late Jack Kuhnert, Freehold Borough's championship basketball coach and math teacher.

Applications are available at www.far cnj.com or by calling the club's hotline at (732) 43102627. Preregistration fee by May 6 is $20 ($16 for FARC members). As a special incentive, high school students who preregister will pay only $10. Day of race registrations is $25.

When Junior Golf America tees off in 2008, young golfers will have the opportunity to play on some of the most exclusive golf course in New Jersey this summer.

JGA director Chuck DiLeo announced that the organization as scheduled tournaments at a host of private country clubs including Bamm Hollow in Lincroft, Forsgate in Jamesburg, New Jersey National in Basking Ridge, Hawk Point in Washington Township, Raritan Valley in Bridgewater and Fiddlers Elbow in Medminster.

In addition to playing on the finest private courses, the JGA will have tournaments as many of the top public courses in the state. There will be over 50 tournaments played this spring, summer and fall.

The 2008 JGA tournament season opens on April 27 at Sea Oaks in Little Egg Harbor.
