Plans to be developed for new admin. building School board President Anthony Manisero said the board has authorized the expenditure of $10,000 for an architect to design a 10,000- to 12,000-square-foot building that would likely be constructed on Millhurst Road in Manalapan and serve as the new home of the district's administrative offices. Manisero said the construction of a new administration building is earmarked for land the district already owns next to the Manalapan Englishtown Middle School. The school district presently has its administrative offices at 54 Main St., Englishtown. The building is the former Main Street School. Manisero said the board has been informed that it would cost an estimated $2.7 million to remediate the Englishtown building and to bring it up to code standards. He said the construction of the new building that is planned for Millhurst Road in Manalapan will be paid for out of $900,000 in surplus funds that are available to the board, as well as what the school district realizes from the sale of the Englishtown building. Manisero said the district will soon solicit bids for the Englishtown building. He said the minimum acceptable bid will be $1.1 million. According to Manisero, several entities have expressed an interest in buying the Englishtown building. Among them, he said, is the Freehold Regional High School District which has its administrative offices at 11 Pine St., Englishtown, in the former Pine Street School. The Pine Street School is directly behind the Main Street School. Manisero said the borough of Englishtown and the Diocese of Trenton have also expressed interest in purchasing the former Main Street School from the district. |
