Resident opposed to passenger train line in Marlboro
Iam responding to a (letter to the editor) in the News Transcript ("Let the People Decide if They Support a Train," March 12, 2008) in which David Henry states that he believes the majority of Marlboro residents would like to see a train line running through the town.

I vehemently disagree. I also disagree with his assertion that people bought houses in town full well knowing that they are near a train line. I bought my house almost 12 years ago with no idea about a possible train line running through the heart of Marlboro.

Have we become so lazy that we would forgo the peace and tranquility in Marlboro to put a train line through the center of town so that we wouldn't have to drive the 10 minutes to the Matawan train station?

Has Mr. Henry ever lived near a train line? Trains like to blow their extremely loud horns when they pass over roads, whether at 5 a.m. or 1 a.m.

I laud the mayor's efforts to keep Marlboro a nice quiet town and keep the train line out. Additionally, I truly believe that if the people of Marlboro would be forced to vote on a referendum on the matter, Mr. Henry would be proven quite wrong. Nobody wants a train in their back yards.
