Rotary club presents donations

FREEHOLD - The executive board of the Freehold Rotary Club recently distributed $12,950 to local charities. The presentations were made during a luncheon that was held at the Main Street Bistro on March 25.

Earlier this year, the executive board presented $2,750 to Freehold Borough for the installation of bicycle racks in the business district and to fund a bicycle safety program, according to a press release.

The charities that received funds at the March 25 luncheon were:

• Boy Scouts of America.

• Camp Quality - for children who have cancer.

• YMCA Community Center, Freehold.

• Court Street School Education Community Center, Freehold.

• Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad.

• Gift of Life Foundation.

• Habitat for Humanity.

• I Beseech Thee Clinic - for those without health insurance.

• Monmouth County 4-H Club.

• Open Door food pantry, Freehold.

• The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide.

• 180 Turning Lives Around - specifically the Amanda's Easel art therapy program.

"Formost Rotarians this is the best time of the year," Rotary Club President Frank Argote-Freyre said. "Rotary is about giving to the community.At the international level we are involved in the struggle against polio. Locally, we are engaged with numerous charities.We hope that in each case our donation will better the lives of others."
