Marlboro WMUA seat opens
BY REBECCA MORTON Staff Writer

MARLBORO - There is an open seat for a Marlboro commissioner on the Western Monmouth Utilities Authority (WMUA).

Catherine Zulferino, who was one of the twoWMUAcommissioners fromMarlboro, recently resigned from the sewer authority.

Zulferino was appointed to the WMUA commissioner's position in June 2007 to complete the term of her late husband, Ralph Zulferino Jr., who died earlier that month. The term that was originally held by Ralph Zulferino runs through 2010.

Mayor Jonathan Hornik said Catherine Zulferino's letter of resignation cited personal reasons for her departure from the authority.

With its headquarters on Pension Road, Manalapan, the WMUA provides sewer service to customers inManalapan, Marlboro, Englishtown and Freehold Township.

Four commissioners - two appointed by the Manalapan Township Committee and two appointed by the Marlboro Township Council - oversee the operation of the authority.

At the present time Eric Abraham and Steve Toubin represent Manalapan and Jeff Hymowitz represents Marlboro.

Each commissioner receives an annual $4,000 stipend for his service and is eligible to receive health benefits through the authority. The commissioners meet twice a month.

Hornik said résumés are being accepted to fill the seat previously held by Catherine Zulferino. He said municipal officials are looking to find the best person to represent Marlboro on the WMUA.

Anyone who is interested in submitting a résumé and being considered for the WMUAappointment may deliver it to the mayor's office at town hall.
