Council honors school board

MARLBORO - The Marlboro K-8 School District Board of Education was honored by the Township Council at the council's Jan. 17 meeting in honor of School Board Recognition Month.

"You work to improve the lives of our children and there is nothing more noble or important than that," Mayor Jonathan Hornik told the Board of Education members who were present at the main meeting room in Town Hall.

Councilwoman Rosa Tragni related how a friend of hers is moving out ofMarlboro due to business and is trying to find a school district in her new home state that can compare with Marlboro.

"We sometimes take for granted on a day-to-day basis that our children are getting such a good education here," Tragni said.

She thanked the board members for their efforts in helping to make that happen.

Superintendent of Schools David Abbott was in the audience that evening and also praised the board members for their dedication to the children of Marlboro.

"They are absolutely on this board for one reason and one reason only and that's your children. That's how they see it, that's how they look at it," Abbott said.

"Thank you for your efforts past, present and future," Councilwoman Randi Marder said to the school district representatives.
