Charles Michael Erndl Mr. Erndl, 59, of North Augusta, S.C., died Jan. 6, 2008, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Ga. Born in New York, he grew up in Englishtown and spent most of his life traveling with the U.S. military.Mr. Erndl, who served in the VietnamWar, settled with his family in theAugusta area in 1983 after retiring from the U.S. Army as a sergeant first class. He worked at Aiken Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse for 18 years, the last 10 of which were in the heart catheterization lab. Mr. Erndl was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, North Augusta. He enjoyed ice hockey and played in the adult leagues at the Augusta Ice Forum. Surviving are his wife, Barbara L. Erndl; two daughters and sons-in-law, Erin E. and Kevin Howard of Martinez, Ga., and Kristen M. and Jason Schlegel of Orlando, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin M. and Erika Erndl of Naples, Fla.; three brothers, John, James and Peter Erndl; a sister, Elsie Marriner; and four grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Zimmerman officiating. Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, Augusta, was in charge of arrangements.
