Manalapan goes red for healthy hearts Feb. 1

Manalapan Township employees will be wearing red Feb. 1 in honor of the fifth annual American Heart Association National Wear Red Day for Women. The goal of the event is to focus attention on the number one killer of American men and women - cardiovascular disease. According to the American Heart Association, more than 2,300 Americans die of cardiovascular disease each day and many of these deaths are preventable.

Manalapan Township will also host a seminar Feb. 1 presented by Marcie Tyson, of the Manalapan Health Department. She will educate the public about the risk factors of heart disease, signs and symptoms of a heart attack and how to reduce an individual's risk for cardiovascular disease. Sessions will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the Manalapan Municipal Building Courtroom. Details: (732) 446-8345.
