Gerard William Monroy

Mr. Monroy, 92, of Marlboro, died Dec. 19, 2007, at home. He was born in New York and had resided in Sarasota, Fla., for 26 years before moving to Marlboro three years ago. Prior to retiring in 1973, Mr. Monroy was the owner of Monroy's Liquors in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member the St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church Friendship Club in Marlboro. Surviving are his wife, Clelia; a son, Gerard F. Monroy of Marlboro; a daughter, Jeanne M. Meck of Bethesda, Md.; and six grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel's Church. Interment was private. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
