Make political parties responsible for campaign signs
It is heartening to see that the Manalapan Township Committee is "retooling its ordinance regulating political sign … (to try to control) sight pollution." A few days after this year's elections I was driving in the township and passed a Manalapan Township labeled pickup truck and crew removing election signs from the area.

Who is picking up the tab for this - the local Democratic and Republican organizations or, as I fear, the taxpayers? Perhaps, while the ordinance is being "retooled," some thought might be given to requiring the political parties to pay for the removal of their signs.

That only seems fair since they created the blight in the first place. It might also have another salutary effect - cutting down the number of signs we have to deal with.
