Teacher must face consequences of actions
Ijust had to say that I am so glad News Transcript staff writer Kathy Baratta reported the incident with Mary Kaminski at the Pine Brook School in Manalapan ("Substitute Faces Charges After Classroom Incident," News Transcript, Dec. 12, 2007) and more importantly, ended with the atrocious quote made by the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Superintendent of Schools John Marciante.

Mr. Marciante said, "It's a sad occasion. Here's a woman who was a teacher her whole life, and then this happens."

Is he for real?!

The article says she was a substitute teacher. Any college sophomore can substitute. A person does not need a degree or teaching certificate to substitute. She is not a teacher.

And even more disturbing are his final words, " … and then this happens."

It did not just happen. Ms. Kaminski brought this upon herself. She is responsible for her own actions. She now must be held accountable; those, my dear, are the consequences.

Indeed, it is sad, but it most certainly did not just "happen."
