      Charity bicycle Ride Oct. 4 in Long Branch
            The Wellness Community — The Diney Goldsmith Center, Eatontown, will present its second annual Spokes for Hope Bicycle Ride to Support People Affected by Cancer on Oct. 4 at Pier Village, Long Branch. Proceeds will benefit the center and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

            Abundant Life Church of God recently launched a new weekly recovery program called "Celebrate Recovery." The program is designed to specifically help anyone who is struggling with issues such as divorce, alcohol/drug addictions, codependency, food/eating addictions, sexual addiction and anger, fear and anxiety. It addresses more than just chemical dependencies.

      Buchwald agency to hold open casting call
            Don Buchwald and Associates, New York, will hold its second annual open casting call for talented children Oct. 4 at the Marriott Lincroft Red Bank, 245 Half Mile Road, Red Bank. Several of last year's casting call picks are currently in major commercials. There is no charge to attend. Actors, singers and dancers are welcome to audition.

Numerous psychics with various specialties such as astrology, numerology, Angel Card readings and more will be on hand for readings. Admission is $10 and readings are $10.       Spaghetti dinner to aid fireman & family
            A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 4 at the American Legion Post 54, 62 West Main St., Freehold to benefit Freehold firefighter Michael Petrula and his family. The family had to evacuate their home due to a fire Sept. 22. All proceeds will go to the Petrulas.

            What is the Jersey Devil, where does it hide, and what have been the strangest sightings? Russell Juelg of the Pinelands Alliance will take children on an imaginary hunt for the legendary clawed creature known as the Jersey Devil 4 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive.

      Memorial walk, wheel-a-thon to help LADACIN Network
            The second annual Ryan Bell Memorial Walk and Wheel-A-Thon will be held on Oct. 12 at Brookdale Community College, Route 520, Lincroft. There will be a 1.5-mile walk, refreshments, entertainment and giveaways. Entertainment includes magicians from Skyhigh Entertainment, Mr. Scott the Music Man, 95.9 WRAT-FM radio and face painting.

      OceanFirst Foundation awards grants to schools
            Thousands of students across Ocean and Monmouth counties will see upgrades to their school library and media center. OceanFirst Foundation has awarded $322,000 in grants and gift certificates as part of its annual Library and Media Center Enhancement Grant Program.
