DiLeo wins JGA's summer tour finale
      Manalapan's Pat DiLeo won the final regular-season stop on the Junior Golf America Summer Tour held at Hawk Pointe Golf Club in Washington Township. A prior winner in '08, the Manalapan High School senior carded a 78 to win the Master Boys 16-19 age division. Far back in second was David Costaney from Andover, who shot a 95.

      The field is set for the 54th running of the Cane Pace at Freehold Raceway on Sept. 1. One thing that was learned at Saturday's Cane Pacer Eliminations, is that it may take a track record to win the first leg of the Pacing Triple Crown.

      If the Northeast Conference coaches have it right, Monmouth University soccer teams will rule again. Both the men's and women's teams, which won the NEC championships last fall, are picked by the coaches to repeat as the conference's best.

      Brookdale Community College women's soccer coach Frank Lawrence is using the team's early contests to get a feel for what he has. Opening in New York State against a powerhouse Herkimer squad Saturday and then playing a junior college Division I power Harford in their home opener tomorrow (4 p.m.) will give Lawrence a good barometer of where his team stands.
