Emergency responders honored MARLBORO - The Township Council has presented certificates of recognition to police officers, first aid squad members, paramedics and one good Samaritan for their work in saving a man's life. During the council's Nov. 7 meeting, council President Jeff Cantor spoke about an incident that occurred on Oct. 14. He said that at about 6:30 p.m. police dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a stab wound. Cantor, who responded to the call as a first aid squad member but did not receive a certificate, said that when the first police officers arrived at the township home they discovered a man who had a self-inflicted stab wound from a butcher's knife. Dr. Frank Tamburrino, a neighbor of the injured individual, grabbed his medical equipment and joined the responders at the scene to offer his help. MONOC paramedics also responded. The man was clinically dead at one point, Cantor said, but was revived and lived. He praised everyone who helped to save the man's life. Each honoree was presented with a certificate noting his or her dedication to the public. Members of the Marlboro Police Department also received a lifesaving service award pin. The police officers who responded to the call were Gregory Aronne, Michael Haroun, David Taglietta, Michael Moody and Sgt. Robert Casaburi. Three dispatchers were honored for their work, Callen Figarola, Amy Wilburn and Leigh Snyder. From the Morganville First Aid Squad, Alan Miller, Paul Nebb, Fred Baron and Ed Donahue were recognized. The two paramedics from MONOC who were thanked were John Iazzetta and Christine Pagano. "It's times like this when we really need to celebrate our residents," Cantor said. |
