AAUW presents annual scholarships

Dorean Shaw of Freehold (l) and Jennifer Nocera of Middletown are two of the three women who received a scholarship from the Freehold Area Branch of the American Association of University Women to be used to further their university studies.
Three Monmouth County women who have returned to college to pursue courses that will help them reach their career goals are benefiting from scholarships from the Freehold Area Branch of the American Association of University Women. The funds for these $2,000 scholarships come from the branch's annual June book sale.

Dorean Shaw of Freehold is studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree at Monmouth University in political science and public policy. She received the Lew Williams Scholarship. She looks forward to helping attain positive social change in dealing with public policy issues.

Kelly Witkowski of Colts Neck is pursuing a master's degree at American University in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development. As part of her program she has studied at the University for Peace in Costa Rica. She hopes to work using sustainable tourism as a development mechanism in low-income countries. She received the Leila Sulkes Scholarship.

Jennifer Nocera of Middletown is working toward a professional diploma in Marriage and Family Therapy at Kean University, where she obtained a master's degree. Her continued interest in helping others makes her look forward to becoming a licensed marriage and family therapist to make the lives of others better.
