MANALAPAN - The Manalapan Symphony will perform a holiday concert on Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the auditorium of Manalapan High School, Church Lane, between Tennent Road and Route 522. Admission is free.

The symphony is conducted by Michael Avagliano.

According to a press release from the township, Avagliano is an acclaimed violinist and conductor who is currently serving as assistant conductor of the Plainfield Symphony.

Avigliano has served as interim music director of the Central Jersey Symphony. Avagliano studied conducting under Wallace Hornibrook and Jan Harrington at Indiana University, with further study under George Marriner Maull. He has worked as a cover conductor for the Lafayette Symphony in Indiana and the National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland.

Avigliano is currently the conductor for the Manalapan Advanced Prep Orchestra.

Mayor Andrew Lucas said, "Our new conductor is a tremendous talent and we have very high expectations for the new symphony under his leadership."
