Manalapan Symphony slates holiday concert

The Manalapan Township Committee has announced that the Manalapan Symphony will perform a holiday concert on Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the auditorium of Manalapan High School, Church Lane. Admission is free.

The symphony will be conducted by Michael Avagliano, an acclaimed violinist and conductor who is currently the conductor for the Manalapan Advanced Prep Orchestra. Avagliano also serves as assistant conductor of the Plainfield Symphony.

Avagliano studied conducting under Wallace Hornibrook and Jan Harrington at Indiana University, with further study under George Marriner Maull. He has worked as a cover conductor for the Lafayette, Ind., Symphony and the National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland. For more information on the symphony, call (732) 446-8303.
