Manalapan Symphony slates holiday concert

The Manalapan Township Committee announced at its Oct. 10 meeting that the Manalapan Symphony will be performing its holiday concert Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the auditorium of Manalapan High School, Church Lane (between Tennent Road and Route 522), and will be free of charge.

The symphony will be conducted by Michael Avagliano, an acclaimed violinist and conductor who is currently the conductor for the Manalapan Advanced Prep Orchestra. Avagliano also serves as assistant conductor of the Plainfield Symphony.

Avagliano studied conducting under Wallace Hornibrook and Jan Harrington at Indiana University, with further study under George Marriner Maull. He has worked as a cover conductor for the Lafayette (Ind.) Symphony and the National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland. For more information on the symphony, call (732) 446-8303.
