Grant would fund drunk driving enforcement Freehold Township is applying for a grant to participate in the state's Drunk Driving Enforcement Program. The program, a part of the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, is to increase awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. The Township Committee has applied for a grant of $7,699. In other news, Freehold Township is participating in a 2007 drainage improvement project. The $527.002 will go to install drainage structures and under drains on seven streets, along with inlet repair. It also includes repairs to the storm sewer infrastructure. In addition, changes in Freehold Township zoning fees have been proposed. Currently, a zoning permit, which does not require a construction permit, is $29. The proposed increase would bring the fee up to $35. Finally, the Freehold-Long Branch Shared Services Committee will be applying for grant funding through the Department of Community Affairs, Sharing Available Resources Efficiently program in order to provide funding for a study on the feasibility of a shared animal control facility. The cost of the study would be about $20,000. |
