Local legislators had a hand in supporting new laws
On Sept. 4, 2007 a historic event took place in the Marlboro library. Gov. Jon Corzine was there, state senators and assemblymen were there, as well as local officials, the media and members of the public.

The occasion was the signing of four statutes dealing with unethical and criminal behavior by elected officials.

A4326-S300 prohibits dual elective office holding.

A2465-S1192 establishes the crime of corruption of public resources.

A3005-S1318 establishes the crime of public corruption and profiteering.

A3252-S1662 requires the Office of Legislative Services to make the complete voting records of all legislators available to the public over the Internet (greater transparency).

We can be proud of our legislators here in the 12th district as Sen. Ellen Karcher and Assemblyman Michael J. Panter were prime sponsors or co-sponsors of all of the above legislation.
