Family fun day, open house set

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - CentraState Healthcare System will celebrate the launch of its new ambulatory campus with a Community Open House, Oct. 7, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Family Fun Day, Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The events will feature activities, information and entertainment for all age groups.

The new 171,000-square-foot, threestory building on the grounds of CentraState Medical Center at 901 W. Main St. is the largest expansion in CentraState's history, according to a press release. A range of services that promote health and well-being will be available to the community including CentraState's expanded Health Awareness Center and a new 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Fitness and Wellness Center.

Community open house events will include bounce house, magicians and clowns for children, healthy refreshments and giveaways, free blood pressure, body fat and DermaScan screenings, sports medicine demonstrations and tours of selected areas.

Family Fun Day events will include story time, games, a teddy bear/doll clinic (free teddy bear to the first 100 children), fitness and wellness center membership raffle, healthy cooking demos, nutrition program and diabetes lectures, free blood pressure screenings for children. In addition, there will be CPR and pet CPR demos, entertainment from local dance and music schools, parent/child program demos (including "Ask the Pediatrician" lecture) and tours of select areas.

In addition to the expanded Health Awareness Center and new Fitness and Wellness Center, services at the new ambulatory campus include physical therapy and rehabilitation such as Central Jersey Wound Treatment Center with new hyperbaric therapy program and Linda E. Cardinale Multiple Sclerosis Center; cardiac diagnostics and rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation, including the Center for Sleep Disorders; Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center; Student Health Awareness Center with new children's Adventure to Health interactive exhibit; and private physician offices.
