County plans auction of surplus goods
Monmouth County will hold its annual surplus property auction on Sept. 23 at the East Freehold Park Showgrounds, Kozloski Road (between Route 537 and Center Street), Freehold Township, beginning at 10 a.m. Items will be available for public inspection at 8 a.m.

Seized and surplus property of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, motor pool, bridge department and park system will be auctioned. The auction will be conducted by Steven J. Miranti Auction Liquidators of Eatontown. A complete list of the items included in the 2007 auction may be found online at www.auctionlistliquidators.com. Pictures and descriptions, as well as terms of sale and other relevant information are available.

Vehicles make up a good share of the items to hit the auction block. More than 130 cars, trucks and vans are up for sale. Also on the auction list: office equipment, lawn mowers, grounds and turf equipment, chain saws, food concession equipment and other miscellaneous items.

Each item will be sold to the highest bidder, without exception. Bidders must be 18 years of age or older. Successful bidders will be required to pay in full by 1 p.m. the day of the auction. Terms of sale will be cash, certified check, business check with a bank letter of guarantee. All items are to be sold "As is, where is." All items must be removed from the lot the day of the auction. Additional terms and conditions may be announced the day of the auction.

For the first time, the county will make one item available for sale in an online auction - a 1994 P&H Century T-280 Truck Crane will be offered in a five-day online auction beginning Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. Different terms and conditions apply for this sale. Steven J. Miranti Auction Liquidation Services specializes in auctions of heavy equipment, business termination, government surplus, vehicle fleets, inventory reduction and bankruptcy. The county will receive 99.04 percent of the auction proceeds. The 2006 auction netted $234,778 for the county, according to a press release.

. Audubon to host trips

to Philadelphia museums

The Jersey Shore Audubon Society will host a bus trip to Atwater Kent and National Liberty museums in Philadelphia Sept. 28. The cost is $40 and includes admission to both museums and a guided tour of the National Liberty Museum.

On Oct. 12 the group will host a bus trip to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia to see "First Ladies: Public Role and Image." The cost is $40 and includes admission to the special exhibit

The Audubon will host a bus trip to Historical Richmondtown in Staten Island, N.Y. The cost is $35 and includes admission. Maps will be provided for a self-guided tour.
