Personal business is not fodder for public consumption
'Tis the season … no, it's not Christmas or Hanukkah; it's election time, also known as "let's try and discredit the candidates that have the most knowledge and experience, that will do the best job for our community."

Just when you think you've seen it all with smear campaigns and mud slinging, people (and I use that term loosely) come up with new and degrading ways of making a circus of the race for public office.

Life was very quiet for us this year until my husband decided to run for Manalapan Township Committee. Now people are suddenly interested in our private life.

Our public life is one thing and my husband has always done right by the township, but to start delving into our personal business has certainly crossed the line. One thing has nothing to do with the other and there are always two sides to every story.

Somehow, the story that shows a bad light on the candidate always seems to be told, but not the other side. And quite honestly, it is nobody's business but our own.

I trust that the citizens of Manalapan will see through this game and vote for the best person for committee in November.
