MANALAPAN - The Manalapan Police Department is continuing to investigate an armed robbery that took place at the Yorktowne shopping center, Gordons Corner Road, on Aug. 8 at about 6:30 p.m.

According to police, the incident took place in the parking lot between Romeo's Pizza and the Elco photo lab. During the course of the robbery, the victim, a 19- year-old male resident of Manalapan, was stabbed.

The incident was reported on Aug. 11 by personnel from CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, where the victim was treated and released.

As a result of an investigation two suspects have been charged: Daniel Klane, 22, of Manalapan, and Jamie Maldonado, of South Amboy.

Police said the suspects have been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Bail for Klane was set by state Superior Court Judge Jamie Perri at $220,000 with no 10 percent option.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office could not be reached on Aug. 20 to determine bail information for Maldonado.

Manalapan Detective Joseph Moreto and officers Richard Gallo and Daniel Carey investigated the incident. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Detective Joseph Moreto at (732) 446-4300 or (732) 446-8387.
