Seniors to meet, discuss FDR

Bridge Biography, a new company devoted to preserving family histories, is inviting all area seniors to the Empire Diner, Route 9 north, Freehold Township, on Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. to share their remembrances of the day Franklin Delano Roosevelt died in Warm Springs, Ga. (April 12, 1945). Tickets are free, but space is limited; attendees must R.S.V.P. before Aug. 10.

In addition to preserving the recollections and stories for posterity, the inaugural program will be a social event where senior citizens can get together for a leisurely stroll down memory lane while enjoying a complimentary breakfast buffet.

Roosevelt was president for more than 12 years and guided America through the Great Depression, the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the majority of World War II.

Bridge Biography was recently founded by Manalapan native Matthew Litt, a young attorney who left the practice of law for a more gratifying career path.

"After five years of practice in a Man-hattan law firm, I was eager to apply my research and writing skills to a more meaningful pursuit," he said.

Bridge Biography interviews family matriarchs and patriarchs, then turns the raw question and answer sessions into a readable narrative biography bound in hardcover book form to be preserved for generations into the future, according to a press release.

"In stark contrast to the adversarial world of litigation, I'm grateful to work with happy people all day. Seniors cherish the opportunity to tell their life stories, while their children and grandchildren treasure the preservation of their family's history," Litt said.
