Back Panter's reform of Fish and Wildlife Council

Hooray for Assemblyman Mike Panter (D-Monmouth and Mercer), sponsor of the bill to reform the Fish and Wildlife Council.

This archaic council, which has total authority over all wildlife in New Jersey, is no more than a state-sponsored hunting club.

For over 50 years, the Fish and Wildlife Council has been comprised of hunters for the sole purpose of promoting trophy hunting and bloodsports.

But something's wrong with that picture, because over 99 percent of New Jersey residents support nonlethal wildlife management and their views need to be heard.

So move over, Elmer Fudd! It's time for some good old fashioned democracy.
