Club holds annual event to celebrate classical music

The Cecilian Music Club held its 16th annual Cecilian Awards Winners Concert May 20 at Woodrow Wilson Auditorium on the campus of Monmouth University, West Long Branch. The students performing in this recital had to pass an adjudicated audition in order to perform.

The program featured piano solos, piano duets, piano trios, harp solos, cello duets, flute/piano duets, and piano/voice duets. Cecilian Music Club members and their students are all residents of Monmouth County.

The students who performed in this year's recital are: Katie Ahne, Ianna Arthur, Priyanka Chatterjee, Cindy Chen, Melanie Chen, Ethan Cheng, Ambika Chottera, Phoebe Chou, Phyllis Chou, Melissa Co, Andrew Ding, Kimberly Ding, Ning-Jiun Jan, Tzu-Han Jan, Darren Jeng, Yuri Kim, Karen Kong, Anne Ku, Joshua Ku, Karina Kwan, Eryn LeCroy, Matthew Lee, Michelle Lee, Samantha Lee, Timothy Lee, Alexander Liu.

Also, Suzanna Mathew, Amrita Mazumdar, Lucas Hurley McCabe, Felicia Ng, Michelle Qion, Steven Qion, Brian Tang, Catherine Tien, Jessica Tien, Mary Tresvalles, Andrew Verri, Sarah Vicol, Crystal Wang, Nicole Wang, Wesley Wang, William Wang, Valerie Wang, Yinuo Wang.

And, Stephanie Wei, Abraham Wu, Grace Wu, Kimberly Wu, Susan Xiong, Andrew Xu, Vivian Xu, Catherine Yam, Michelle Yam, Darlene Yang, Alice Zhang, James Zhang, Megan Zhanosky, and Allen Zhu.

The Passaggio Cappela Chamber Choir also performed. Choir members are: Zachary Ahn, Ezekiel Ahn, Caleb Ku, Eryn LeCroy, Faith Liu, Cathy Jin, Joanna Ju, Christine Ku, P.J. Liu, David Mathews, Jonathan Mathews, Suzanna Mathews, Elizabeth Nettleship, Victoria Nettleship, Jamie Sung, Andrew Yoon, Esther Yoon and Sarah Yoon. Joshua Ku accompanied the choir on piano.

The teachers who prepared students for this concert are: Yu-Chen Chao of New York, Beth S. Chen of Marlboro, Jennifer Chen of Whippany, Yvonne Huang of Marlboro, Chiu-ling Lin of Princeton Junction, Elvira Major of Fair Haven, Marjorie Mollenauer of Colts Neck, Tang-mei Shieh of Marlboro, Dauri Shippey of Lawrenceville, Jessica Chia-Jung Tsai of East Windsor, Chia-Hsiu Wang of Parsippany, Helen Peihua Jia Wang of Old Bridge, Cathy Tao Yin of New York, and An-Li Young of East Brunswick.

The Cecilian Music Club is an organization of performers, teachers and music lovers dedicated to the study and performance of classical music.
