Scout has plan to honor fire, first-aid volunteers

MANALAPAN - Life Scout Scott Levine of Troop 434, Manalapan, is working on his Eagle Scout project, a monument to honor the local volunteers of emergency services of Manalapan who have served 15 years or more of active service.

The idea for a monument to honor these local volunteers was a dream of the late Fire Chief Mark J. Manek Sr. of the Gordons Corner Fire Company. At the present time, Manalapan has no mechanism to honor these volunteers, according to information provided by Levine. This monument will ensure that the volunteers receive the well deserved recognition, he said.

The monument will be in front of Manalapan town hall and should be completed by early September.
