Anthony Grosso

Mr. Grosso, 85, of Howell, died June 4, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Paterno, Italy, he had lived in Hazelton, Pa., and Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Howell in 1999. He wintered in St. Petersburg, Fla., for the past 28 years. Mr. Grosso worked in the bookkeeping department of Mergenthaler Linotype Co., Brooklyn, for over 30 years, retiring in 1976. He and several other family members owned the Winchelsea Hotel, Palenville, N.Y. He was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Harbor Lights Club, St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Grosso was predeceased by two brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Giovannina "Jennie" Gross of Howell; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Louis and Judy Gross of Staten Island, N.Y., Joseph and Zulema Gross of Queens, N.Y., and Anthony Grosso of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and George Licitra of Jackson; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Catherine of Siena Church, followed by entombment in St. Charles Cemetery Mausoleum, Pinelawn, N.Y. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge or arrangements.

Madeline Irene Davison

Mrs. Davison, 90, of Howell, died June 8, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Englishtown and was a lifelong area resident. Prior to retiring in 1980, Mrs. Davison was employed by the Howell Township Board of Education as a cafeteria manager at the Ardena and Griebling schools. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, where she also belonged to the seniors group. She was predeceased in 1996 by her husband, Leon C. Davison. Surviving are three sons, Leon H. Davison, Brent A. Davison and Gary E. Davison, all of Howell; and two grandchildren, Brent and Kevin Davison. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, with the Rev. Cynthia E. Bowman officiating. Interment followed at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, 118 W. Main St., Freehold 07728.

Bruce L. Metzger, D.D.S.

Dr. Metzger, 65, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died June 8, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Morganville for 38 years. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Brooklyn College and a doctor of dental surgery degree from the New York University College of Dentistry in New York City. After graduating from dental school, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army and was chief of oral surgery at Fort Meade, Md., during the Vietnam War. He started and developed a dental practice in Morganville, where he and his wife also raised four children. Dr. Metzger held many leadership roles in the community, which included serving as a Marlboro Township councilman through the mid-1990s and being vice president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Monmouth County. He was a founding member of the dental staff at Freehold Area Hospital (now CentraState Medical Center), Freehold Township, as well as president and a lifetime member of the Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society. He was instrumental in creating the Maimonides Society, an association of medical professionals supporting charitable causes. Dr. Metzger enjoyed going to the gym, reading history books and taking annual family trips to Aruba and Ocean City, Md. He was predeceased by his father, David Metzger, and his father-in-law, Philip Fox. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Miriam; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Scott and Cheryl Metzger; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jodi and Marc Pasternak, Dr. Cory Metzger Lebovitch and Mark Lebovitch, and Daniella and Dr. Michael Adler; his mother, Anna; a brother, Steven Metzger; his mother-in-law, Ruth Fox; and eight grandchildren. The funeral service was held at Marlboro Jewish Center. Shiva was observed by the family June 10-15 at Dr. Metzger's home. Bloomfield-Cooper Memorial Chapels, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Robert E. Peterson

Mr. Peterson, 54, of Marlboro, died June 5, 2007. He owned and operated Solar Interiors Inc. in his hometown, Matawan. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Peterson was predeceased by his father, Ernest R. Peterson, in 1968; and his mother, Helen DeLoskey-Peterson, in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janice Gawley-Peterson; two sons, Chad Peterson of Matawan and Robert Peterson of Marlboro; two daughters, Corrie and Elizabeth Peterson, both of Marlboro; a sister, Louise Webster, and her husband, John, of Matawan; and two nieces. Funeral services were held at the Waitt-Neims Funeral Home, Morganville section of Marlboro, followed by interment in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.

Joseph N. Pasqualetti

Mr. Pasqualetti, 76, of Toms River, died June 6, 2007, at Community Medical Center Hospice, Toms River. Born in New York City, he had lived there and in Closter and then in Jackson before moving to Toms River two years ago. Mr. Pasqualetti owned and operated Marcy's Auto Seat Covers in Englewood and Paterson, retiring in 1988. After retiring, he worked at Knickerbocker Golf Club, Tenafly. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Laucello Pasqualetti, in 2006. Surviving are a son, Mark Pasqualetti of Freehold; two daughters, Susan Costelloe of Howell, and JoAnn Costelloe of Freehold; eight grandchildren; a brother, Amadeao "Sonny" Pasqualetti of Staten Island, N.Y.; and a sister, Ann Augliera of Aurora, Colo. Services were held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. Interment followed at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.

Martin Lewis

Mr. Lewis, 80, of Monroe, died May 12, 2007, in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Lewis. Surviving are his wife, Helene Carol Lewis; two sons, Franklin, and his wife, Kelly, of San Diego, Calif., and James, and his wife, Jeannie, of Manalapan; a brother, David Lewis of Charlottesville, Va.; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Interment was in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Glendale, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to any cancer-related charity, the Special Olympics or the charity of one's choice.

Millie Piccolo

Mrs. Piccolo, 75, of Manalapan, died June 8, 2007, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she had lived there and in Sayreville and Old Bridge before moving to Manalapan two years ago. She was a dietitian for Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, for 10 years until her retirement in 1992. Mrs. Piccolo was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband, Ralph Sr., and in 1992 by a son, Pat. Surviving are three sons, Salvatore and John Piccolo, both of Manalapan, and Ralph Piccolo Jr. of Englishtown; two brothers, Joseph Scafidi of Old Bridge and Anthony Scafidi of Victorville, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Entombment took place at Holmdel Cemetery.
