Writer says Cantor will make an excellent freeholder

The primary election is over and Jeff Cantor has been elected as a Republican freeholder candidate. We all have to work hard to make sure he is victorious in November.

I was proud to be able to vote for Cantor, a true red-blooded American, for freeholder. A fellow resident of Marlboro, Jeff Cantor has served our community proudly over the past two years on the Township Council. This year, in recognition of his leadership, he was elected to serve as our council president.

I know Jeff has been actively involved in community service in both the community where he serves as a volunteer emergency medical technician and for our country. He currently serves in the U.S. Army Reserve as a major and took part in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 where he served as civil affairs commander.

I know Jeff Cantor as a man of integrity and honesty who has worked hard for the residents of our town.

During his two short years on council, Jeff has accomplished many things. Now in Marlboro, all appointed officials and volunteers, especially those working or interacting with our children, have to pass mandatory background checks.

He strengthened the anti-pedophile laws to protect our children. Jeff also worked to preserve open space and curb overdevelopment, and he re-established the senior committee in town to deal with issues that affect all of our senior citizens.

I am thrilled that in the general election I will have the opportunity to vote for Jeff Cantor for Monmouth County freeholder. He will bring to the freeholder board his energy, selfless public service, honesty and integrity. I hope that my fellow county residents will join me in supporting an honorable man, Jeff Cantor, this fall.

Shital Rajan
