Harvey Noschese Jr.

Mr. Noschese, 56, of Freehold, died April 25, 2007, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in South Amboy, he had lived in Matawan and Old Bridge before moving to Freehold in 1975. He was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers, Local 825, Newark, most recently working for Stavola Construction, Tinton Falls. Earlier this year, Mr. Noschese received an associate in applied science degree specializing in paralegal studies from Brookdale Community College, Lincroft. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Brookdale. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Order of Arrows and a Silver Beaver recipient. He was a member of the Golf Club of New Jersey. Surviving are his wife, Renee Noschese; a son, Harvey C. Noschese III of Lakewood; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Topp of Freehold Township; and his parents, Harvey C. Sr. and Lorraine Noschese of Old Bridge. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts of America, 705 Ginesi Drive, Morganville 07751.

Vera Emmons

Vera T. Emmons, 99, of Freehold, died April 30, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Matawan, she had resided in Freehold since 1934. Mrs. Emmons was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Freehold, and an active member of St. Anne's Guild of the church. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert L. Emmons, in 1990. Surviving are a son, Albert F. Emmons of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Charles Anderson, Dover, Del.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial donations may be made to either St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 33 Throckmorton St., Freehold 07728, or Freehold Fire Department Memorial Fund, 49 West Main St., Freehold 07728.

Serhij "Serge/Steve" Pavliv

Mr. Pavliv, 84, of Lakewood, died May 1, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Kharkov, Ukraine, he came to the U.S. in 1947, settling in Lakewood. He was a member of St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral and an active parishioner and choir member of St. Stephen's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Toms River. Along with his brother, Boris, he had owned and operated Stephen Brothers Mason Contractors, Howell, for 50 years, retiring in 1995. Mr. Pavliv was predeceased by his wife, Sofia, in 2005; and his brother, Boris, in 1995. Surviving are three sons, Mark Pavliv of Spring Lake, Steven Pavliv of Freehold Township, and George Pavliv of Lakewood; a sister, Nina Rupieks of New Town, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services were held at St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Howell, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Cathedral, 220 Alexander Ave., Howell 07731, or St. Stephen Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1344 White Oak Bottom Road, Toms River.

Joan Miller

Joan E. Miller, 65, of Marlboro, died April 27, at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born and raised in Bronx, N.Y., she had moved to Marlboro 39 years ago. Mrs. Miller was a human resource administrator for the U.S. Postal Service, Edison, for 25 years, before retiring in 2005. Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter, Robin Miller of Jackson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Jen of Marlboro, and Michael and Beverly of Avon By The Sea; a grandson; and her former husband, Tex Miller. A funeral service was held at the Freeman-Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by interment at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Monmouth County Park System.

John Kalinauskas Jr.

Mr. Kalinauskas, 60, of Manalapan, died April 25, 2007, at home. Born in Neptune, he had lived in Freehold before moving to Manalapan in 1969. Known as "DJ Johnny K," he had owned and operated his own DJ company and enjoyed making music, sharing it with others, and donating his time and services to local charities. He was a former member of the Lithuanian Club of Freehold. He was employed by Ford Motor Co., Edison; Freehold Cartage Inc., Freehold Township; and Disposal Systems Inc., Millstone. Mr. Kalinauskas is survived by his wife, Jane Burdge Kalinauskas; a son and his wife, John C. IV and Dina Kalinauskas of Jackson; a daughter, Eileen Rose of Jackson; a stepson and his wife, Darren and Karyn Stolz of Toms River; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tribute Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Robert J. Pellicano

Mr. Pellicano, 57, of Howell, died April 25, 2007, at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Long Island and Peru, N.Y., before moving to Howell 24 years ago. Mr. Pellicano was a manufacturer's representative for Mid-Atlantic Sales Inc., Allaire, Md., for the past four years. He was a member of the Surf Corvette Club and the Barnegat Bay Power Squadron. Surviving are his wife, Deborah Pellicano; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert A. Pellicano of Naperville, Ill., and Timothy and Megan Pellicano of Toms River; a daughter, Amy Pellicano of Howell; his mother, Geraldine Pellicano of Peru, N.Y.; two sisters, Candi Ellison and Linda Baker, also of Peru; and two grandsons. A funeral service was held at the Church of the Master, Howell, followed by interment in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. William J. Smith

Mr. Smith, 80, of Freehold Township, died April 26, 2007, at home. Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Metuchen, Iselin and North Edison before moving to Freehold Township in 2001. Mr. Smith was a former housing commissioner of Edison, having served for 10 years. He was a pharmacist and owner of Your Pharmacy, Edison, for more than 25 years, retiring in 1980. Mr. Smith was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who participated in the D-Day Invasion and had received several medals of honor. He was a 1955 graduate of Rutgers University. He was the commander of the Cadets of America, Iselin, and a past president of Edison Pop Warner Football League and a Little League coach in Edison. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Genevieve Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Patricia Smith; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kim Smith of Freehold Township, and Terry and Richard Gigantino of Millstone; and six grandchildren. Services were held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.

Kenneth D. Owens

Mr. Owens, 49, of Middletown, died May 12, 2007, in Keansburg. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Middletown most of his life. He was a manager at Keansburg Amusement Park for several years. He was predeceased by his parents, Dolores and Robert Owens; and a brother, Ronald Owens. He is survived by his wife, Maryann Owens; two sons, Eric Owens of Middletown, and Kenny Owens of New Brunswick; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Glenn and Carol Owens of Nickelson, Pa., Bruce and Kathi Owens of Long Branch, and Kevin Owens of Bayville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne and Timmy Delk of Freehold, Debbie and Tommy Dyer of Middletown, Janet and John Poling of Union Beach, and Kelly and John Blair of York, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be May 16 at 10 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
