Polo match will benefit art therapy initiative
COLTS NECK - The Amanda's Easel Art Therapy Program, a service of 180 Turning Lives Around, will sponsor its second annual "Polo Match and Tailgate Party" fundraiser on June 3 at 2 p.m. at Bucks Mill Park, Bucks Mill Road.
Event proceeds will benefit Amanda's Easel, a nonprofit service offering comprehensive art and play therapy. The program is designed to create a support system to help victims, both children and parents, cope with the traumatic effects of violence and abuse.
According to a press release, since the program's inception, Amanda's Easel has assisted more than 1,000 victims of family violence, trauma and loss.
According to Cindi Westendorf, Amanda's Easel program coordinator, "art therapy is a wonderful way to reach people when words are not enough. We foster a creative as well as healing environment for children and parents. We hope the community will enjoy a fun-filled day in support of a great cause."
The Breeze radio 107.1 will be on hand to lend its support. Children's activities, music and refreshments will also highlight this sporting event. In addition, members of the community will have the opportunity to purchase children's artwork on display at the event. Framing for all children's artwork will be donated by U Frame It in Matawan.
Tailgate and picnic space on the field is available at the cost of $100 per vehicle. Tailgate set-up on the day of the event is no later than 2 p.m. Other interested parties choosing to park off the field can attend the event by making a $25 donation per person payable to 180/Amanda's Easel at the main gate. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs to the match.
