Police investigating Howell bank heist

HOWELL - The New Friendship branch of PNC Bank in the Friendship Mall, Route 9 south, was robbed by a single individual on May 1 at 4:45 p.m. Police said the suspect was wearing a black-striped motorcycle helmet with a face shield.

Howell police Capt. Steve Dreher said the suspect showed a black handgun and was given an undisclosed amount of money. He said the suspect fled the bank on foot. The matter is being investigated by the FBI and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Dreher said the Monmouth County K-9 unit was brought to the scene, but the suspect was not apprehended.
